The Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved the immediate dissolution of the State Local Government Service Commission in order to enhance transparency and efficiency in the activities of the Commission.
He said that the development is part of the ongoing reforms designed to streamline government operations, show efficiency and improve the overall performances of public sector institution within the state.
The dissolution was contained in a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Okpebholo, Fred Itua.
Okpebholo, however, assured that the decision would not affect staff and smooth running of the Commission.
The Edo governor expressed his commitment to engage with all stakeholders to develop a robust plan for the restructuring of the local government Commission for effectiveness and efficiency.
The statement read, “This move became necessarily in order to revitalise the Local Government Service Commission and reposition it for more efficient Service delivery. By this, we aim to eliminate inefficiency and build a more accountable and effective Local service structure.
“Updates regarding this decision and upcoming changes in the Local Government Service Commission would be communicated to the public in due course.”
