Ahead of the 2027 general elections, Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District, Ede Dafinone, has intensified his grassroots mobilisation drive, moving directly into the structures of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State.
Dafinone, who is seeking re-election on the platform of the APC, on Monday held a strategic meeting with the party’s local government and ward executives at the Council Hall, Isiokolo, in a fresh push to consolidate the party’s structures ahead of the crucial 2027 contest.
The meeting, held alongside the Executive Chairman of Ethiope East Local Government Council, Hon. Chief Augustine Ogedegbe, JP, and other party leaders and stakeholders, centred on one major objective: building a stronger APC from the grassroots and delivering victory for the party in 2027.
Addressing the party executives, Dafinone charged them to take the APC’s programmes, policies and message to every community and ward in Ethiope East, stressing that the battle for 2027 would be won through effective grassroots organisation and sustained engagement with the people.
The Senator also highlighted what he described as the impact of his representation in the National Assembly, citing various opportunities and interventions facilitated across Delta Central, including contracts, pensionable employment, empowerment initiatives and infrastructural development.
He assured constituents and party stakeholders that his office would remain accessible, insisting that effective representation must be anchored on continuous engagement with the people.
But beyond the meeting with party executives, Dafinone’s political engagement in Ethiope East took another significant turn when he visited Chief Love Ojakovo, a prominent APC leader and former political ally of former Deputy President of the Senate and former APC senatorial candidate for Delta Central.
The meeting, held at Ojakovo’s residence, is politically significant as the APC continues efforts to consolidate its various tendencies and prevent internal divisions from undermining its 2027 ambitions.
Ojakovo had previously been associated with the political camp of Omo-Agege in Ethiope East before the APC senatorial primary and the subsequent realignment of political structures around the leadership of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
Dafinone described the encounter as a strategic engagement aimed at deepening unity and cooperation among party stakeholders.
“Today, I met with Chief Love Ojakovo at his residence. We had a meaningful and engaging conversation on the future of Delta Central and the steps we must take to advance the interests of our people,” Dafinone said.
“I remain committed to listening, engaging and working with our leaders and stakeholders at all levels.”
On the meeting with the APC executives, the Senator said the engagement was designed to strengthen the party’s grassroots machinery and sharpen its mobilisation strategy ahead of the 2027 elections.
“Earlier today, I engaged the leadership of the APC LGA and Ward Executives of Ethiope East in a strategic meeting in Isiokolo. We discussed measures for effective grassroots mobilisation and how best to strengthen our collective efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections,” he said.
Dafinone thanked the party’s leaders, executives and stakeholders across Ethiope East for their support, declaring that the APC must remain united if it is to make a decisive impact in 2027.
“Together, we will build a stronger APC and work for the progress of our people,” he added.
In his remarks, Ogedegbe urged the APC executives to recognise their strategic position as the pillars of the party at the grassroots, calling for greater unity, commitment and coordination among members.
The council chairman charged the executives to work closely with party leaders and stakeholders to secure victory for the APC and its candidates in 2027.
The meeting was attended by the APC LGA Chairman, Chief Midwest Iboyetete, ward executives and several prominent party leaders and stakeholders, including Chief Godwin Ogbetuor, Chief John Itebu, Chief Adelabu Bodjor, Chief Justin Oberhiri Uloho, Chief Ejemudaro Salubi and Chief Samson Anomi.
With the 2027 elections drawing closer, Dafinone’s renewed engagement with the APC grassroots and outreach to previously divided political camps point to an emerging strategy: close ranks, consolidate the structures and take the battle for Delta Central to the wards.
