Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has approved a minor cabinet reshuffle following the resignation of two commissioners seeking elective positions ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The affected commissioners are Ms Orode Uduaghan, daughter of former Delta State governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan, and Barr. ThankGod Harry Trakiriowei.
Their resignations were confirmed in a statement issued on Friday by the Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Charles Aniagwu.
According to the statement, Orode Uduaghan, who served as Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Community Support Services and Girl Child Development, resigned alongside Trakiriowei, the Commissioner for Youth Development, to pursue political ambitions ahead of the 2027 elections.
Both former commissioners are reportedly preparing to contest seats into the Delta State House of Assembly.
Following their exit, Governor Oborevwori directed the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Community and Social Development, Princess Pat Ajudua, to oversee the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Community Support Services and Girl Child Development pending further directives.
The governor also directed the Commissioner for Housing, Hon. Godknows Angele, to supervise the Ministry of Youth Development with immediate effect.
Aniagwu said the governor appreciated the two former commissioners for their service to the state and wished them success in their political pursuits.
“The new supervisory arrangements take immediate effect pending further announcements by the state government,” the statement added.
