Delta 2023: Ex-Member Of Delta Post Primary Education Board Dumps PDP For APC

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former member of the Delta State Post Primary Education Board, Olorogun David Upaka, has dumped his party for the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

Upaka, a former chairman of Bendel Steel Structure, Enerhen, announced his defection to the APC after resigning from the PDP on Friday.

Until his resignation on Friday, Upaka was a prominent leader of the PDP in Ughelli South local government area of the state.

He hails from Otor-Edo in Jeremi Ward 1 of Orhowhe Subclan of Ughievwen Kingdom in Ughelli South. He was one of the backbones of the PDP and responsible for the victory of the party in the past.

In a resignation addressed to the chairman of the party in the council, Upaka, a traditional chief of Ughievwen Kingdom, said he had decided to dump the PDP as it could not longer serve his interest and those of teeming supporters across the state.

A copy of the resignation letter read, “This is to inform you effective from today 27 January, 2023, hereby cease to be a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) as former member State Campaign Council and former member Local Government Campaign Committee for the reasons stated below

“Never-ending neglect, marginalization, mistreated, abandonment of my dearest Otor-Edo Community by the PDP-led Local and State Governments.

“The atrocious leadership impunity, hostile plots against me and my supporters. It should be noted that politics is a game of interest and my supporters and I no longer find the values, ethics and ideology of the party’s founding fathers in your party to which we have belonged since inception.

“Therefore, in order to better serve my teaming supporters in my Ward, Local Government and State, I have decided to end my affiliation with a party that has negative intentions for me, my supporters and my community.”
