Mulade To Gov Oborevwori: Emulate Enugu, Akwa Ibom Governors On Industrialisation, Youth Employment

United Nations Peace Ambassador and renowned development advocate, Comrade Mulade Sheriff, has called on Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, to place industrialisation and youth employment at the heart of his administration’s development agenda.

Speaking at a press conference in Asaba, the Delta State capital, Mulade, who also holds the traditional title of Ibe-Serimowei of the ancient Gbaramatu Kingdom, emphasised that people-oriented policies are urgently needed to stimulate economic growth and improve the quality of life across the state.

“Infrastructural projects are good,” Mulade stated, “but creating employment opportunities for our youths is even more critical for a peaceful, revitalised, and sustainable economy that truly adds value.”

Citing examples from other states, the environmental and human rights advocate praised the economic strides made by Governors Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom and Peter Mbah of Enugu State. He particularly highlighted Mbah’s launch of Enugu Airlines as a bold and innovative step, noting that Enugu State operates with just about half the financial resources available to Delta.

“Delta State has far more resources and capacity to float its own airline. A functional Delta Airways would not only generate jobs but also position the state as a hub for aviation and commerce in the South-South,” he said.

Mulade also pointed to the economic climate in Delta State, lamenting what he described as “anti-business policies” that hinder private sector growth and discourage investment.

“It is imperative to state that Delta’s business economy is not healthy. Several government policies are not economically friendly, and this is stifling local enterprise and entrepreneurship,” he added.

He urged Governor Oborevwori to take bold, strategic steps toward reviving the state’s economy through industrial initiatives that directly benefit its growing youth population.

“I want to strongly appeal to His Excellency to make industrialization a top priority. It holds the key to saving our deteriorating economy and restoring confidence in the state’s future,” Mulade concluded.
