Chairman of Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, Olorogun Godwin Adode, has described Mr. Ejiro Otarigho, the courageous tanker driver who drove a burning petroleum tanker to safe area to avert a major fire explosion in Agbarho, Delta State, as a hero.
Agbarho is located in Ughelli North LGA and is one of the major towns in Delta State.
Otarigho, an indigene of the council, in a rare act of bravery last week Friday drove a burning tanker from a danger zone to avert what could have caused tragic explosion in Agbarho.
His act of bravery has been commended by Nigerians with many calling on the federal government to honour him with national honours.
The driver’s audacious act of heroism prevented several lives and property from being destroyed from the raging inferno which gutted the petrol tanker.
But Olorogun Adode in a statement on Tuesday posited that Otarigho’s heroic act underscores the fact that the people of the council are kind and brave.
The council chairman specifically praised Otarigho for risking his life to save the people of the council from being thrown into mourning.
An elated Adode added that such brave act by the tanker driver is worth celebrating and commended him for his show of love to humanity and for being ambassador of the council.
“On behalf the people of Ughelli North Local Government Council, I wish to celebrate our beloved son and hero, Ejiro Otarigho, who risked his life to save the lives our people by driving a burning tanker from a danger zone to a safe environment.
“This is the spirit and kind gesture the people of the Council and Agbarho people are known for. Otarigho’s heroic act is highly commendable and we are happy that our people are not mourning but celebrating.
“Ejiro Otarigho is our ambassador and hero. We urge our people to emulate such brave act capable of uplifting the lives of our people and advancing the cause of society”, he added.
