The Rector of the Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara, Prof. Emmanuel Ufuophu-Biri has described the Ovie of Oghara Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Orefe III, Uku Oghara Na’Me, as a blessing to Delta State and Nigeria for his continuous efforts in promoting peace and support for education.
Biri, who led the management and staff of the Polytechnic to the palace of the Oghara monarch to celebrate the royal father’s birthday, noted that Uku Oghara Na’Me reign has not only been a blessing to Oghara people, but to all Nigerians, particularly to the polytechnic.
The professor of mass communication spoke at the palace of the traditional ruler in Oghara when top management of the polytechnic celebrated the birthday of the revered Urhobo monarch on Friday.
Prof. Biri, who is also a chief in the palace, congratulated the monarch for completing another circle of life and wished him more resounding health and reign on the throne of his forebears.
The Omoko of Oghara Kingdom noted that under the reign of the monarch, Oghara has witnessed unprecedented growth in all facets of human endeavours.
He thanked the monarch for his unflinching support for the polytechnic and informed the monarch that the Management of the University of the Western Cape in South Africa has reached out to the Polytechnic for an exchange programs.
In his remark, Ovie of Oghara Kingdom commended the Rector and management of the institution for honouring him with a birthday celebration, saying that under Prof. Biri, Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara, is recording rapid transformation in academics and infrastructure.
Uku Oghara Na’Me congratulated the institution for a successful 2nd combined convocation ceremony that was held recently, noting that Oghara Kingdom was proud of the Rector’s sterling achievements and most importantly for giving the Polytechnic a global visibility.
The royal father further commended Prof. Biri for keeping the palace abreast with activities in the Polytechnic, and prayed for the Rector, staff, and students of the Polytechnic.
The Deputy Rector, Dr. Samuel Ogbogu; Polytechnic Bursar, Sunday Omokaro; Dean Students’ Affairs and Polytechnic Orator, Dr. Samuel Enudi; Deputy Registrar, Council and Legal, Mrs. Nana Naomi; Director, Protocol and Public Relations, Sagboje Onoriode Clinton, accompanied the Rector to the palace.
