A prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, Olorogun Morrison Olori, has hailed Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for dumping the ‘sinking’ Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the APC.
Olori, a renowned businessman and elder statesman, said he was excited to receive the news of the defection of Governor Oborevwori and the entire structure of the PDP, including elected lawmakers and council chairmen, into the ruling APC.
While describing the defection as strategic and progressive, Olorogun Olori noted that with the governor’s defection, Delta is now set to become a trailblazer in infrastructural and economic development with the support of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Olori, who holds the influential title of Obaseki of the Great Ughelli Kingdom, stated this in a statement he issued on Friday in Abuja.
The octogenarian posited that just like former Governor James Ibori, Oborevwori has started well with massive infrastructural projects presently ongoing across the state, describing him as the best after Ibori to rule the oil-rich state.
“I wholeheartedly congratulate His Excellency, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, on his recent political realignment. This courageous step is a clear testament to his vision, political maturity, and commitment to the collective interests of Deltans. It is my hope that this move will further strengthen the foundations of inclusive governance and promote unity across party lines.”
He went on to commend the governor’s leadership style, describing him as “a man of the people” who has continued to prioritize grassroots development, youth empowerment, and infrastructure renewal since assuming office.
Olorogun Olori also called on political stakeholders across Delta State to rally behind the governor in this new phase of his political journey and urged old members and leaders of the party to wholeheartedly receive the decampees.
“Now is the time for unity, not division. Let us all support the governor as he continues to steer our dear state toward peace, prosperity, and progress,” he added.
Olorogun Olori commended President Bola Tinubu and other leaders of the APC for making the party attractive for opposition governors and politicians, stressing that Delta would benefit from the “Governor’s progressive move to APC”.
