Senator representing Delta Central, Ede Dafinone, has urged the people of Delta Central and the entire Urhobo Nation to use the Christmas season as a time for deep reflection, love, and reconciliation.
In a Christmas message to his constituents on Wednesday, Dafinone described Christmas as more than a season of celebration, noting that it is also a period for gratitude and sober reflection on God’s blessings.
He called on the people to reflect on the gains recorded in 2025 as Urhobo people, as Deltans, and as Nigerians, while also acknowledging the challenges encountered in the course of the year.
According to him, the celebration of Christmas should remind Christians of the undying love of God, as demonstrated through the birth of Jesus Christ.
“Christmas symbolises love — the ultimate love of God revealed through Jesus Christ, whom He gave to redeem humanity and reconcile us to Himself,” the senator said.
He stressed that this act of divine love should inspire individuals and communities to show kindness, compassion, and understanding towards one another, especially during the festive season.
Dafinone urged the people of Delta Central to be their brother’s keeper, bearing one another’s burdens and strengthening the bonds that unite families and communities.
He also called for reconciliation among family members, friends, and political associates, encouraging forgiveness and the healing of old wounds.
“Let us move forward together with renewed vigour, fresh hope, and clarity of purpose as we look ahead to the future, including the journey towards 2027,” he added.
The lawmaker wished the people of Delta Central and the entire Urhobo Nation a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year, reaffirming his commitment to serving them.
