The Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District, Ede Dafinone, has been conferred with the traditional title of Garkuwa Gamji in recognition of his support and commitment to the Gamji Emirate.
The honour was bestowed on the lawmaker by Farouq Umar during a ceremony held under the auspices of the Emirate, which celebrated Dafinone’s role in promoting unity and cross-regional collaboration in Nigeria.
Speaking after the conferment, Dafinone expressed gratitude, describing the recognition as a reminder of the importance of unity and shared purpose in nation-building.
“I was deeply honoured this afternoon to be conferred with the prestigious traditional title of Garkuwa Gamji,” he said, noting that his relationship with the Emirate spans several years.
The senator also recalled his family’s longstanding ties with the institution, stating that he had often represented his late father at Gamji events, further strengthening the bond between both parties.
According to him, his father, a former senator, maintained a strong relationship with the Emirate and was committed to fostering ties between Northern Nigeria and the South-South region.
Dafinone reaffirmed his commitment to sustaining those values, emphasising unity, cooperation and mutual respect as guiding principles in his public service.
In a related development, the lawmaker was also appointed as a member of the Advisory Board of the Arewa Gamji Emirate Royal Council, a role expected to further deepen his involvement in promoting national integration.
