The Senator representing Delta Central, Ede Dafinone, has described the death of former Senator Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi as a devastating blow to Delta State and Nigeria’s political class.
Dafinone, in a statement on Tuesday, said he received the news of Nwaoboshi’s death with shock, noting that the former lawmaker’s passing marked the end of an era in Delta politics.
He described the late politician as a strategic powerbroker whose influence cut across party lines and earned him the sobriquet “Political Oracle” within the state.
“Nwaoboshi’s death is a painful loss, not only to his family but to Delta State and the Nigerian political community,” Dafinone said.
The lawmaker extended condolences to the Nwaoboshi family, the people of Delta North Senatorial District, the Niger Delta region and political associates of the deceased.
Nwaoboshi served as a two-term senator representing Delta North and was also a two-term chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Delta State. He later joined the All Progressives Congress, where Dafinone said his experience and counsel continued to shape the party’s direction in the state.
Dafinone also commiserated with members of the APC in Delta, describing the loss as irreparable.
He added that the late senator would be remembered for his enduring legacy of service, leadership and political mentorship, praying for God to grant him eternal rest and give his family the strength to bear the loss.
