DSP: Omo-Agege’s emergence will unite Nigeria, deepen democracy – Urhobo leaders

Urhobo leaders under the Forum of President-Generals of Urhobo Kingdoms have described the emergence of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege as Deputy President of the Senate as a good omen towards strengthening unity of Nigeria.

They noted that with Omo-Agege’s elevation as DSP from minority ethnic nationality was capable of deepening the nation’s democracy.

In a congratulatory statement signed by Chief Kenneth Iwhewhe, Chief Francis Okitikpi and Chief Emmanuel Ememu – Chairman, Secretary and Public Relations Officer respectively, the group said the Urhobo people were proud of his achievements.

The statement thanked President Muhammadu Buhari and the Adam Oshiomhole-led All Progressives Congress (APC) for choosing their kinsman for the senate deputy seat.

Omo-Agege, an Urhobo, hails from Orogun in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.

It stressed that Senator Omo-Agege got the exalted position due to hardwork, diligence and sincere comradeship resource he displayed since his election to the Senate by the people of Delta Central.

“Our dear, Obarisi and Deputy Senate President, the forum and our people are proud of your humble life style, principled character, patriotism, exemplary commitment to the best interest of our country and capacity to lead with courage.

“Your elevation to the position of Deputy Senate President will no doubt foster unity, peace and democratic principles in the country. We urge you to always distinguished yourself and the people of the South- South in your new position”, the statement added.
