The Itsekiri Nation on Monday declared 37-year-old Prince Tsola Emiko as the 21th Olu of Warri despite controversies trailing his selection and subsequent presentation by the Olu’s Advisory Council.
Prince Emiko is the son of the 19th Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse Il. He was disqualified in 2015 from succeeding his late father on the basis that his mother is a Yoruba woman.
His emergence was announced by the Iyatsere of Warri and Acting Chairman of Olu’s Advisory council, Chief Johnson Amatserunreleghe at a ceremony at Ode-Itsekiri in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State.
He succeeds His Majesty, Ogiame Ikenwoli, who joined his ancestors in December 2020 after a brief illness.
Here are some of the heartwarming moment he was presented to the Itsekiri people as their next traditional ruler.
