In a statement issued on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Edafe Bright, said the allegation involved an officer identified as Bright, another officer Usman, and the Divisional Police Officer of Jesse, who is also a former Edo State Police Public Relations Officer, CPS Chidi Nwabuzor.

The command explained that the incident stemmed from the arrest of some suspects on January 1, 2026, by the youth leader of Jesse community, who handed them over to the police. Among those arrested was Israel Onojeruo, 20, identified as the brother of the woman in the viral video.

According to the police, Israel was arrested following the confession of another suspect, Okoro Desmond, who allegedly admitted selling a gun to him. The suspects were later transferred to the State Anti-Cult Unit for further investigation.
