Senator Adego Eferakeya, who represented Delta Central Senatorial District between 2007 to 2011 under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is dead.

Eferakeya, a renowned pharmacist, died on Tuesday at the age of 78.

The professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology died after a brief illness, sources close to the family told WARRI TODAY.

Family sources said the late senator’s death is not unconnected to a severe stroke he suffered in 2018.

A top Okpe chief who pleaded anonymity confirmed the demise of the senator to our correspondent on telephone on Tuesday when contacted.

Eferakeya, who took over from late Senator Felix Ibori, was succeeded in 2011 by late Senator Akpor Pius Ewherido, who died in 2013.

Eferakeya, who hails from Aghalokpe in Okpe Local Government Area of the state, was elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and served between 2007 to 2011.

The family and the revered Okpe Council of Chiefs are yet to release any official statement on his passage as at the time of filing this report.
