Fubara, Wike Feud Deepens As Governor Redeploys Rivers Assembly’s Clerk, Deputy

By Eseoghene Emuke

The cold-war between Rivers State governor, Siminalayi Fubara and his predecessor and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, seems to be far from ending as the state government has redeployed the Clerk and Deputy Clerk to the State House of Assembly.

The crisis between the duo led to the bombing of the House of Assembly and counter impeachment of the Speaker and Majority Leader of the Assembly.

But in a new twist, the state government ordered the posting of the Clerk, Mr. Emeka Amadi and Deputy Clerk, Mr. Calistus Ojirika, to other ministries amidst the crisis in the state legislature.

According to a circular, dated November 20, the State Head of Civil Service, Dr. George Nwaeke, removed Amadi without announcing any replacement.

In the memo, titled: Senior Staff Posting, Nwaeke transferred Amadi to the Scholarship Board and the Deputy Clerk, who is also the Head of Legislative Department, Mr. Calistus Ojirika, to the Readers’ Project.
