Nonagenarian Mother Of Social Media Influencer, Sunny Basikoro, Installed As Okpako Ewheya Of Edjophe Community


 

It was celebration galore in Edjophe community in Ughievwen Kingdom of Ughelli South local government area of Delta State as a nonagenarian, Lady Basikoro, was installed as the Okpako Ewheya (oldest married woman) of the community.

The event, held on Saturday, drew family members, community leaders and women groups who gathered in large numbers to witness the historic installation.

The new Okpako Ewheya, widely described as a woman of virtue and resilience, comes from a lineage of tradition, as her mother also held the same title in Usiefrun community.

She is the widow of the late Robert Basikoro Eshah, who before his death in 1994, was the Okpako Orere (oldest man) of Edjophe.

Despite the loss of her husband decades ago, Lady Basikoro was said to have remained steadfast in her matrimonial home, earning respect across the community.

Her children include notable figures such as Comrade Godwin Basikoro, a former Assistant National Secretary of NUPENG, alongside Edward, Tony of Batop Conglomerates, and social media personality, Comrade Sunny Basikoro.

Residents described her emergence as well-deserved, noting her long-standing commitment to family values and community development.

The colourful ceremony featured music, dance and cultural displays, with entertainers and MCs keeping guests engaged throughout the celebration.

The installation marks a significant cultural milestone for the people of Edjophe, as the community continues to uphold its age-long traditions.
