Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, on Tuesday, joined family members, clerics and dignitaries to celebrate the 50th birthday of Godday Iboyi, General Overseer of Promised Kingdom Ministries aka Overflow Chapel Worldwide.
The thanksgiving service, held at the church’s cathedral in Okuovwori-Amuokpe, Sapele, drew a large congregation, including political leaders, traditional rulers and worshippers.
Speaking at the event, Oborevwori described the cleric as a devoted servant of God and society, commending his spiritual impact and leadership.
The governor, however, stressed that leadership is defined by humility rather than position, warning against pride among those in authority.
“Many hold positions of authority, but position alone does not define leadership. True leadership comes with humility. If you desire a position, begin with humility,” he said.
He also urged leaders to adapt to changing realities, noting that governance requires wisdom and the ability to make the right decisions at all times.
Quoting 1 Thessalonians 5:16–18, Oborevwori encouraged Christians to embrace gratitude, prayer and faith, describing the celebration as a moment for reflection and thanksgiving.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, Delta State chapter, Abos Willie, charged the congregation to live disciplined and purposeful lives rooted in faith.
He urged believers to remain obedient to God and stay focused on their divine purpose.
The service featured prayers, worship and thanksgiving, with the highlight being the presentation of a birthday card to the celebrant by the governor.
Dignitaries at the event included Senator Ede Dafinone; the Orodje of Okpe Kingdom, HRM Major General Felix Mujakperuo, Orhue 1; Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, HRM Dr. Emmanuel Sideso, Abe 1; Ovie of Idjerhe Kingdom, HRM King Monday Obukohwo Whiskey, PhD, Udurhie 1, Papa Ayo Oritsejafor, Archbishop Solomon Gbakara and among others.
