The Imo State Police Command has dismissed reports that Chief Uche Nwosu, a son in-law to former Governor Rochas Okorocha, had been kidnapped.

It, however, said Nwosu was arrested by police operatives and was currently in their custody.

The clarification is coming following the gestapo manner the former Imo governorship candidate was picked up by armed men in mufti while attending a church service in the state on Sunday.

The clarification was contained in a statement signed by the Police Relations Officer of the State Police Command, CSP Michael Abattam.

Abattam, who had earlier claimed he was not aware of incident, did not give reasons for the arrest of Chief Nwosu.

“This is to inform the general public that chief Uche Nwosu was not kidnapped but was arrested by the police and Imo state police command is aware of the arrest and presently he is in police custody.

“This is to refute the earlier news that has being making rounds on social media that he was kidnapped by unknown persons / gunmen.
