Okorodudu: DESOPADEC Will Continue To Prioritize Staff Welfare, Hosts NATE Executive Members

The Executive Director Projects (EDP), Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Olorogun Dr. Ebenezer Okorodudu, has reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to encourage staff capacity building in their various professions.

He stated this while addressing the Executive Members of the Nigeria Association of Technology Engineers NATE, Warri Branch who paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Warri, today Tuesday September 23rd, 2025.

 

Emphasizing that training and retraining is a bedrock of human capital development of any profession, he noted that obtaining a degree is a foundation upon which subsequent capacity knowledge is built.

 

“The Commission shall continue to encourage every staff member to participate in the capacity building of their professional bodies through AGM, Conferences and seminars,” he said.

 

Speaking further, Dr. Okorodudu appreciated them for taking note of institutions like DESOPADEC that encourage their members to participate in capacity building of their professional bodies.

“Your coming here is a selfless one on how to move your members forward in the course of their duties. I thank you for coming here to pursue the welfare of your members,” he added.

 

He equally reassured them of his commitment to forward their request to the MD/CEO, DESOPADEC, Chief Festus Ochonogor for consideration.

 

Earlier, the Exco members of NATE, Warri Branch, led by its Chairman, Engr. Ovobor Okpakowoel and Treasurer, Engr. Sagay Blessing had informed the EDP that they came to present a letter of request through him to the Managing Director, DESOPADEC, Chief Festus Ochonogor, for an appeal for sponsorship for members of the Association working in the Commission to attend their annual AGM, Conferences, and Seminars.

 

“We are here as a follow up to the earlier meeting we had with you concerning the sponsorship of our members in the Commission. The contribution of our members to the success story of the Commission cannot be over emphasized.

“We therefore appeal to the Commission to in its benevolence, consider sponsorship of our members in the Commission to our annual AGM, Conferences and Seminars,” Engr. Sagay had stated the benefits of such capacity building, which include creating career synergy among members from various fields of engineering, providing opportunities for staff to develop their technical and leadership skills through workshops, seminars, and conferences, as well as guidance and mentorship services.

 

Engr. Sagay then commended the developmental stride of the Board of the Commission led by the Chairman Hon. Bar. John Obukokwho Nani and Chief Festus Ochonogor in its Mandate Areas, noting that their efforts have brought unprecedented development to the oil producing Communities of Delta State.

 

The highlight was the presentation of the Award of Recognition for Outstanding Performance to Olorogun Dr. Ebenezer Okorodudu by the Chairman of NATE, Warri Branch, Engr. Ovobor Okpakowoel.

 

Also in attendance were Engr. Elliott Olokor, Head, Projects Monitoring and Evaluation PME Department; Engr. Friday Money, Head, Works Department; Mr. Festus Ifowodo, Head, Utilities Department; Engr. Onokpasa, SA to EDP; Engr. Collins Okorodudu, Technical Assistant, TA to EDP; Engr. Bright, PA to EDP; Engr. Tosanwumi Silas Dorton amongst others.
