PHOTOS: Ughoton Residents, Landlords Begs Gov Oborevwori Over Deplorable Odisi Road

Landlords and residents of Odisi quarters in Ughoton town in Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State have appealed to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori over the deplorable state of the road housing several estates in the area.

Residents of the area particularly lamented that they have not been able to access their homes with their vehicles in the last three years owing to the unmotorable state of the road.

Odisi is the biggest quarter in Ughoton, Okpe Kingdom in Delta State. The road spanning about 20 kilometres linking other streets and new avenues stretching to the Warri river.

Following repeated complaints from residents and leaders of Ughoton town, NIGER DELTA TODAY team visited the area and observed that the only access road into the most-important residential area is not motorable.

Our team who visited the area observed that most parts of the road had been cut-off by over 20 gullies thereby making the road inaccessible.

It was further observed that over five tippers carrying sand were trapped on the road at the time of the visit.

Speaking on the deplorable state of the road, Mr. Bethel Iweriebor told our correspondents that he could not pack to his newly completed house owing the inaccessibility of the road.

Iweriebor noted that owing to the state of the road, my landlords and residents were packing out of the area since they cannot access their homes with their vehicle for over three years.

A resident, Efe Oghenejabor, said no fewer than five vehicles belonging to landlords and residents had been stolen from where they were packed along the Ughoton/Jeddo road.

He appealed to Governor Oborevwori to include the construction of the road in the 2024 budget.

Oghenejabor, an indigene of Ughoton town, said “We are happy an Okpe son is today the governor of Delta State. We have written to previous government to help us construct the road, but nothing was done. We are confident that Governor Oborevwori will listen to the cry of residents and landlords living in the area.

“Odisi quarters is the biggest areain Ughoton. We are also calling on the member representing Okpe Constituency as well as our daddy, the revered Orodje of Okpe Kingdom to help us talk to the Governor Oborevwori to construct our road.”
