The Delta State Police Command has recorded major breakthroughs in its fight against violent crime, rescuing four kidnapped persons and arresting a suspected cultist in two swift operations across the state.
In the first incident, five armed men suspected to be kidnappers on February 2, 2026, blocked the Ewu–Ajekuta Road and forcefully abducted four occupants of a Toyota Sienna vehicle.
The operation, however, hit a dead end almost immediately.
Following a distress alert, the Divisional Police Officer of Otu-Jeremi Division promptly mobilised operatives who, working alongside sister security agencies and vigilant members of the Ewu community, launched a coordinated pursuit of the suspects.
According to a statement issued on Thursday by the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, said the sustained pressure paid off, with all four victims being rescued and were taken to a hospital for medical attention.
The statement added two expended 7.5mm ammunition was recovered from the scene, while intensive bush-combing and manhunt operations are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
In another incident, the Command also acting on credible intelligence, operatives of the Ibusa Division on February 3, 2026, raided a suspected cult meeting at Anioma Garden, Ugboli Quarters, Ibusa.
During the operation, one suspect, Michael Ayauze, was arrested.
Edafe stated that preliminary investigations identified him as a member of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity.
A search on the suspect led to the recovery of one English Beretta pistol, one live round of ammunition, and assorted charms.
Other suspects escaped on sighting the police and are currently being trailed.
Reacting to the twin successes, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Aina Adesola, reaffirmed the Command’s zero-tolerance stance on kidnapping, cultism, and all forms of violent crime.
He urged residents to remain calm, vigilant, and continue to support the Police with timely and credible information, assuring that the Command remains resolute in safeguarding lives and property across Delta State.
