Having weathered the storm precipitated by the poor economy it inherited, Nigerians can look forward to a year for the consolidation of the bold reforms initiated by President Bola Tinubu since taking over the reins of power, Deputy President of the 9th Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has said.
In a New Year statement issued on Thursday by Omo-Agege’s Media Adviser, Mr. Sunny Areh, as Nigerians welcome 2026, the former Delta Central lawmaker commended Nigerians for their resilience despite the tough decisions they have had to endure.
“The good thing about the reforms introduced by President Tinubu is that they were not knee jerk reactions. They are the product of thoroughly evaluated projections which experts and the international community were convinced were just what the economy needed to come back from the brink.
“To a large extent, that has been accomplished. It is now time for consolidation of the gains of the reforms. I believe 2026 marks the return to prosperity for Nigerians”, Omo-Agege, the Obarisi of Urhoboland said.
He urged the people to brace up to take advantage of the “enormous opportunities that will be unwrapped in 2026. When the spirit of adventure and resilience of our people are taken into account, it is clear our economy is destined for greater heights in 2026 not just because of the reforms, but also due to the character and never-say-die disposition of Nigerians.
“I commend our people for their steadfastness as the reforms kicked in. This new year, 2026, will usher a remarkable reversal of fortune for the greater good of the country. All that is needed is to keep supporting President Bola Tinubu to continue and consolidate his reform agenda. I wish all Nigerians a prosperous 2026. Amen”, he stated.
