A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Niger Delta youth mobiliser, Ambassador Okiemute Innocent Ogbon (MNSE, JP), has hailed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s appointment of former Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, as the South-South Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Initiative.
In a statement on Wednesday, Delta APC chieftain and Niger Delta youth mobiliser, Ambassador Engr. Prince Okiemute Innocent Ogbon (MNSE, JP), described the appointment as “a clear endorsement of Okowa’s exemplary leadership credentials and sterling contributions to national development.”
Ogbon, an engineer and prince of Olomu Kingdom, described Okowa as a public servant whose record in office stood out for “vision, integrity and an unwavering commitment to inclusive growth.”
He said the former governor’s performance in Delta State, marked by infrastructural expansion, youth-focused programmes and strengthened social welfare systems, made him a natural choice for the role.
“President Tinubu’s decision reflects a recognition of Senator Okowa’s proven capacity to deliver people-centred programmes,” Ogbon said.
He added, “His calm diplomacy, administrative competence and broad experience will add immense value to the Renewed Hope Initiative, especially in a region as critical as the South-South.”
He said the initiative, which focuses on economic empowerment, social development and national cohesion, requires individuals who understand the developmental needs of the Niger Delta and possess the credibility to coordinate stakeholders effectively.
“With Okowa’s appointment, the South-South is poised for accelerated growth and deeper engagement with federal development policies,” he added.
Ogbon expressed confidence that Okowa would bring stability, strategic direction and a unifying approach to the assignment.
He prayed for divine wisdom and strength for the former governor, emphasising that “the country stands to gain enormously from his renewed service.”
He added: “This is another chapter of meaningful national contribution for Senator Okowa. His leadership footprint is undeniable, and this role will only further amplify his impact across the region.”
