The Eghagha family of Mereje in Okpe Local Government Area, Delta State, has announced the passing of their patriarch, Dr. Watson Tonegbone Eghagha, who died on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at the age of 84.
Born in 1941, Dr. Eghagha served the Armed Forces of Nigeria with distinction as medical professional, dedicating decades of his life to the service of the nation.
This was contained in a statement issued by a former commissioner for education in Delta State, Professor Hope Eghagha, on Wednesday.
He retired honorably upon reaching the statutory retirement age, leaving behind a legacy of professionalism, discipline, and humanitarian service within the military medical corps.
The family expressed deep gratitude to God Almighty for a life of purpose and fulfillment, noting that Dr. Eghagha’s contributions to both his community and country will be fondly remembered.
Funeral arrangements, according to a family statement, will be announced at a later date.
Dr. Eghagha is survived by his children, grandchildren, extended family members, and a host of mentees and colleagues who were impacted by his life and career.
