Senator Dafinone Bags Urhobo Catholic Community Award, Vows To Do More For Urhobo Nation


 

The Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District, Ede Dafinone, has been honoured with a Distinguished Service Award for his contributions to the development of the Urhobo Nation and his commitment to public service.

The award was presented by the Urhobo Catholic Community of St. John Mary Vianney Catholic Church during the Urhobo Cultural Day celebration held in Asaba, Delta State, in December 2025.

The event, themed “Urhobo: Our Culture, Our Pride,” also featured the formal welcome of Anthony Ovayero Ewherido, Catholic Bishop of the Asaba Region.

However, presenting the award to Senator Dafinone on Tuesday in Asaba, the organisers commended Dafinone for his dedication to promoting the welfare of the Urhobo people and his sustained efforts at attracting meaningful developmental projects to communities across the Delta Central Senatorial District.

 

According to the organisers, the recognition was in appreciation of the senator’s service and his contributions towards strengthening the socio-economic advancement of the Urhobo Nation.

Speaking after receiving the award, Dafinone expressed appreciation to the Urhobo Catholic community for the honour, noting that the recognition would further strengthen his resolve to continue working for the progress and unity of the Urhobo people.

 

He described the award as both humbling and inspiring, adding that it would motivate him to intensify efforts towards delivering more dividends of democracy to his constituents.

The lawmaker also acknowledged the privilege of being recognised alongside other distinguished personalities, including Anthony Ovayero Ewherido, Author Akpowowo, Fred Majemite and Paul Evuarherhe.

 

Dafinone reaffirmed his commitment to supporting initiatives that promote the culture, unity and development of the Urhobo Nation.
