A priest of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Rev. Emmanuel Emuobosa Areh, has passed away at the age of 60.
The cleric, who was the immediate younger brother of veteran journalist, Sunny Areh, reportedly died at about 4:05pm on Monday, December 8, 2025, at the Central Hospital, Warri.
Announcing his death in a statement, the family said the late priest answered God’s call with “gratitude and total submission to the will of God Almighty.”
“It is with heavy hearts and deep pains but with gratitude and total submission to the will of God Almighty that we announce the passing of Reverend Emmanuel Emuobosa Areh, a priest in the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, at the age of 60,” the statement read.
Rev. Areh, who was married with three children, was a trained Biochemist and academic, having studied at the University of Ilorin before answering the call to priesthood.
According to the family, he will be laid to rest on Saturday, December 20, 2025, after a funeral service at Christ Anglican Church, Ozoro.
The late cleric is remembered as a devoted servant of God, a family man, and an intellectual whose life bridged scholarship and ministry.
