The Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) Ireland has congratulated Princess Cllr. Uruemu Adejinmi following her historic election as Vice President of the Fianna Fáil Ard Comhairle, describing the achievement as a moment of pride for Urhobo people and the wider Nigerian community in Ireland.
In a congratulatory message signed by its President, Omiragwa Lucky Ohwofasa Eghagbevwa, the organisation said Adejinmi’s emergence represents another major milestone in her remarkable journey of public service and leadership.
The union noted that Princess Uruemu, daughter of His Royal Majesty Ogurime-Rime Ukori I, the Ovie of Agbon Kingdom, has consistently demonstrated resilience, commitment and excellence in both community development and politics.
“It brings us immense pride to see one of our own continue to break barriers and excel in the political landscape of Ireland,” the statement read.
UPU Ireland recalled Adejinmi’s political journey, particularly her election into the Longford County Council in 2020 and her groundbreaking emergence in 2021 as Ireland’s first Black female Mayor while serving as Cathaoirleach of the Longford Municipal District.
The organisation described her latest elevation within Fianna Fáil as a reflection of years of dedication, hard work and an ability to unite people across different interests.
“Your election as Vice President of the Fianna Fáil Ard Comhairle is a testament to your hard work, your ability to build consensus, and your unwavering dedication to the people you serve,” the statement added.
The body further said Adejinmi remains a source of inspiration to many, stressing that her rise continues to demonstrate that commitment, integrity and service can open doors to greater opportunities.
“We, the Urhobo people in Ireland, celebrate this achievement with you. You continue to be a shining beacon of excellence, proving that with dedication and integrity, one can reach the highest echelons of service.”
The organisation expressed confidence that the new vice president would discharge her responsibilities with distinction and wished her a successful tenure marked by progress and impactful service.
“Once again, congratulations, Princess Uruemu Adejinmi. We are immensely proud of you,” the statement concluded.
