Popular Urhobo gospel singer, Evangelist Jerry Ekpekurho, has been reportedly kidnapped by gunmen.

Ekpekurho was allegedly kidnapped along the Osubi/Eku Road in Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State.

The incident occurred on Tuesday when the singer was heading to his farm along the route.

The arms-wielding abductors were said to have waylaid the Urhobo music legend and forcefully whisked him to an unknown destination.

Ekpekurho’s vehicle was left behind by the kidnappers along the road which prompted relations to suspect it was a case of abduction.

The abductors were said to have contacted the family of the musician demanding for N50 million to free him.

The abductors were learnt to have reduced the ransom to N15 million after much pleads from the family on Wednesday.

Several Urhobo musicians confirmed the abduction of their colleagues on Wednesday.

Police sources in Osubi and Orerokpe confirmed the incident, saying a rescue team has been launched to secure the release of the musician.

The Delta Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya,  confirmed the incident but could not give details of the incident.
