The council also commended the election of the Delta South Senatorial District Chairman, Chief Emman Amgbaduba, alongside other members of the newly constituted State Executive Committee of the party.

In a statement issued by its Chairman, Olorogun Bernard Okumagba, and made available to journalists, the council expressed confidence that the new leadership would strengthen unity within the party and reposition it for greater success across the state.

The statement was jointly signed by the Vice Chairman, Hon. Chief Benson Obire; the Secretary, Chief Vincent Okudolor; as well as Chief Dr. Westham Adehor, Hon. Mark Ikpuri, Olorogun Victor Okumagba, Chief Isaac Emifoniye, Chief Ann Gagiyovwi and Chief Peter Agiri.

The group said Arenyeka’s track record in consensus building and inclusive leadership would help the party blossom and deepen internal cohesion, particularly within the Delta South Senatorial District.

“We warmly congratulate the newly elected State Chairman of our party, Chief Solomon Arenyeka; the Delta South Senatorial District Chairman, Chief Emman Amgbaduba; and other members of the State EXCO on their well-deserved election,” the statement read.

According to the council, the emergence of the new leadership signposts a renewed era of collaboration and strategic growth for the party.

“We are confident that with the consensus-building track record of our new State Chairman, supported by other EXCO members, the party will blossom. Our expectation is that the party, particularly in Delta South, will experience greater cohesion, growth and renewed strength as we collectively advance the ideals and objectives of our party,” the group added.

While welcoming the new state executives, the council reiterated its longstanding position on the composition of Delta South Senatorial District, stressing that the district is made up of four indigenous ethnic nationalities.

It identified the groups as the Ijaw, Isoko, Itsekiri and Urhobo, noting that the ethnic nationalities form the political and cultural foundation of the district and have continually contributed to the development and political strength of the APC in the state.

The council therefore urged the party at all levels, as well as the Delta State Government, to recognise the diversity within the district and ensure fairness in governance and party administration.

It specifically called for equitable distribution of political representation, infrastructure development, opportunities and other dividends of democracy among the four ethnic groups in the senatorial district.

The group emphasised that fairness and inclusiveness would not only deepen unity among the people but also promote sustainable development across Delta South.

“Such fairness and inclusiveness will further strengthen unity, foster mutual respect and promote sustainable development across the district,” the council stated.

They urged the new leadership to pursue policies that would strengthen internal democracy and ensure balanced development across the state during their tenure.
