Youth leaders from the 24 Kingdoms in Urhobo ethnic nationality in Delta State have endorsed the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Great Ogboru for the March 9 governorship election.

The youths under the aegis of Urhobo Youth Assembly (UYA) promised to mobilised the Urhobo people both in Delta Central and South Senatorial Districts for the actualisation of Ogboru governorship ambition.

Ogboru’s endorsement was contained in a communiqué signed by UYA President and Secretary, Comr. Jude Akpore and Comr. Frank Onogagamue after an expanded meeting of the group on Tuesday in Ughelli.

The statement said meeting had over 3,000 youth leaders and 7,000 members of the group and other sister organisation in attendance.

According to the communique, “The meeting exhaustively discussed the leadership quality of Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru and came to this very logical and most accommodating conclusion that the people’s general with his high connection both at the APC in national and the Nigeria country he remains the only Deltan for now that can launch State back into national scheme of things as we are tired of remaining opposition in our own country.

“Finally, the Congress wholeheartedly endorsed the candidature of Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru for the Saturday 9th of March, 2019 governorship election and we believe that with your collective support he will emerged as the next governor of Delta State.

“The entire leadership and members of the Urhobo Youth Assembly drawn from the 24 Kingdoms spread across the eight Urhobo speaking Local Government Councils of Delta Central and our Urhobo brothers in Warri South, Bomadi and Patani rose from a crucial emergency National Meeting in Ughelli over the weekend called principally to review the state of the nation vid the March 9th Governorship elections of Delta State and have decided to speak up very boldly about our choice for the election.

“Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru, a man with sound political sagacity, stand tall like a political colossal in Delta State having contested several elections and won several although was denied the opportunity to govern the state, we believe that this is the right hour for the people’s General to soar high to the enviable position of the governor of Delta State under the All Progressive Congress (APC).”
