A Crown of Distinction: NBA Applauds Akpomudje’s Historic Rise As Ohworode Of Olomu

The Ohworode of Olomu Kingdom in Delta State, His Royal Majesty Albert Akpomudje, SAN, FCIArb, Eyavwie-Alaka I, has been hailed as trailblazing traditional ruler in Nigeria and a blessing to the legal profession where he also served as the Vice Chairman of the Body of Benchers in the country.

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Udu Branch made the assertion on Friday when they NBA branch’s high-powered delegation of its leaders and members paid a courtesy visited to the Olomu monarch at his palace.

 

Eyavwie-Alaka I, who is also the President-General Worldwide of Government College Ughelli Old Boys Association, was crowned the 14th Ohworode of Olomu on November 15, 2025.

 

They noted that Eyavwie-Alaka I, an accomplished legal luminary, is the first of his kind to ascend a traditional throne in Urhoboland.

 

Speaking during the visit, Dr. Ayo Asala, SAN, who led the delegation, described the monarch as “the first of your kind in Urhoboland,” noting that a distinguished Senior Advocate of Nigeria ascending the throne of his forefathers was both historic and symbolic.

He said Akpomudje, a core Bar man, had actively participated in the affairs of the Udu Branch, hosting meetings and contributing to peace and stability within the association.

 

Chairman of the NBA Udu Branch, Edmund Odohisi, extolled the monarch’s sterling achievements at the Bar, adding that his elevation marked a watershed for both the legal profession and traditional institutions in the Urhobo nation.

 

“Your Majesty, all my leaders have spoken and I adopt their words. We pray for you to reign long and prosper,” Odohisi said.

 

Also speaking, a former Delta State Attorney General and notable leader of the Branch, Andrew Orugbo, said Akpomudje’s emergence reflected a new dawn in Urhobo land, where the people choose their best to lead.

 

“A distinguished Senior Advocate of Nigeria ascending the throne of your forefathers is not only historic but symbolic of excellence, integrity and service,” Orugbo declared.

 

Chairman of Wetland Group, Richard Kpedi, urged the monarch to harness the vast economic potential of Olomu Kingdom, particularly in the blue economy sector, to attract investment and accelerate development.

Responding, Eyavwie-Alaka I expressed appreciation to the Branch for the visit, support and goodwill.

 

He promised to leverage his experience and networks to bring rapid and sustainable development to Olomu Kingdom.

 

“I am always elated whenever I am with my learned colleagues. I cherish your support and advice, and I promise to do my best,” the monarch said.

 

Akpomudje, who also serves as Vice Chairman of the Body of Benchers of Nigeria and President-General Worldwide of Government College Ughelli Old Boys Association, is widely regarded as a fearless advocate, mentor to young lawyers and a pillar of the legal profession.
