The incident occurred at about 1:30 pm, throwing his aides and security detail into confusion as an emergency team moved swiftly to evacuate him to the hospital. Eyewitnesses told Punch that the deputy governor appeared to be in a serious condition when he was wheeled into the emergency unit.

Hospital sources confirmed that Senator Ewhrudjakpo has since been stabilised and is currently receiving care in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). While the exact cause of the health scare remains unclear, early indications point to a possible cardiac-related emergency.

“He’s a workaholic; he should find time to rest,” a close associate of the deputy governor told our correspondent, hinting that stress and an overloaded schedule may have contributed to the incident.

Security presence around FMC Yenagoa intensified quickly, as operatives cordoned off the facility to control access and maintain order. Several top government officials were also seen arriving at the hospital to register their concern.

Attempts to reach the deputy governor’s media aide, Mr. Doubara Atasi, for an official comment were unsuccessful as of press time.

However, medical sources at the FMC assured that the deputy governor is responding to treatment and is in stable condition.
