Former Governor of Delta State, Dr Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, has died.
The family announced his death in a statement signed by the former Governor’s only son, Toju Anire Uduaghan, on Monday, October 19, 2026.
The statement said the former governor died on Monday morning, describing his passing as a devastating loss to the family and the people whose lives he touched during his years in public service.
Uduaghan governed Delta State from 2007 to 2015, having earlier served as Commissioner for Health between 1999 and 2003 and Secretary to the State Government from 2003 to 2007.
The family described the deceased as a beloved father, brother, uncle and patriarch, saying his death had left them heartbroken.
“Words can hardly express the depth of our sorrow at the loss of a man who meant so much to our family and whose life and service touched countless others across Delta State and Nigeria,” the statement said.
The family also paid tribute to his contributions to the development of Delta State, noting that his years in public service were marked by efforts towards human and infrastructural development.
It prayed for the peaceful repose of his soul and divine comfort for the family, friends, associates and former colleagues mourning him.
“Your memory will forever remain in our hearts, and your legacy will endure in the lives of those you touched,” the statement added.
