Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has dissolved the State Executive Council.
The dissolution was announced in a Government Special Announcement issued on Thursday, February 12, 2026, and signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Onwuka Nzeshi.
According to the statement, the governor directed all Commissioners and Special Advisers to hand over to the Permanent Secretaries or the most senior officers in their respective ministries with immediate effect.
Governor Fubara expressed appreciation to the outgoing members of the Executive Council for their service to the state and wished them well in their future endeavours.
No reason was officially given for the dissolution at the time of filing this report.
The dissolution is coming three four days after President Bola Tinubu held a reconciliation meeting between him and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory over the lingering political crisis in the state.
