The Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, and all members of his cabinet have officially resigned their membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Governor Douye announced his resignation from the PDP at a press conference on Wednesday after the State Executive Meeting.
He disclosed that he was resigning alongside members of his cabinet and members of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly including the House Speaker, without stating the party he would join.
This brings to an end months of rumoured defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC) over the protracted crisis facing the opposition PDP.
