Senator Ede Dafinone, representing Delta Central Senatorial District, has congratulated the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, the government and people of the state, and the Urhobo people on the 35th anniversary of the creation of Delta State.
In a message marking the milestone, Dafinone described the anniversary as a moment to celebrate Delta State’s journey while renewing the collective commitment to peace, unity and sustainable development.
He called on Deltans to rise above ethnic, cultural and political differences, stressing that the state’s diversity must be transformed into a source of strength rather than division.
According to him, the future of Delta depends on the willingness of its people to recognise, respect and harness the contributions of its various ethnic groups and communities.
“Delta State is one big heart and one big family. Providence did not make a mistake by bringing us together as a people.”
The senator urged Deltans to continue working together, supporting one another and encouraging healthy competition in ideas, enterprise and development, while ensuring that the collective interest of the state takes precedence over narrow sectional considerations.
Dafinone also commended Governor Oborevwori for his leadership and urged the people of Delta to remain united in the pursuit of a greater and more prosperous state.
He said the 35th anniversary should not merely be a celebration of the past, but a renewed call to action for present and future generations to build a Delta defined by peace, progress, prosperity and enduring unity.
