Senator Ede Dafinone, representing Delta Central Senatorial District, has congratulated the Ovie of Idjerhe Kingdom, His Majesty, Obukowho Monday Whiskey, PhD, Udurhie I, on the occasion of his 60th birthday and 5th coronation anniversary.
In a goodwill message issued on Sunday, January 18, 2026, the senator described the double celebration as a remarkable milestone, attributing it to God’s grace, a life of service, and a reign rooted in wisdom, peace and dignity.
Senator Dafinone said the ascension of Udurhie I to the throne five years ago marked the beginning of a new era of purposeful traditional leadership in Idjerhe Kingdom.
“Since his coronation, the kingdom has enjoyed unity, stability and renewed cultural pride, with stronger communal bonds and peaceful coexistence among the people,” he said.
The lawmaker particularly praised the monarch for combining traditional authority with intellectual excellence, noting that his academic distinction and enlightened worldview have elevated the institution of traditional rulership.
According to Dafinone, the Ovie has projected Idjerhe Kingdom as a beacon of cultural pride, progressive thinking and responsible leadership, not only in Delta State but across the Urhobo nation.
He also commended the royal father’s commitment to peace-building, youth engagement and community development, describing the palace under his reign as a moral compass and rallying point for dialogue, consensus and grassroots development.
“As Your Majesty celebrates six decades of a purposeful life and five impactful years on the throne, I pray that God grants you good health, renewed strength and greater wisdom,” the senator said.
Dafinone wished the monarch a long, peaceful and prosperous reign, expressing optimism that Idjerhe Kingdom will continue to flourish under his leadership.
