The Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District, Ede Dafinone, has showered glowing tributes on elder statesman, D. T. E. Salubi, as he clocked 90 years, describing him as “an uncommon patriot whose name is etched boldly in the story of the Urhobo nation.”
In a heartfelt message issued on Tuesday, Dafinone, on behalf of his family and the people of Delta Central, congratulated the nonagenarian on what he called “the joyous occasion of a remarkable life defined by courage, conviction and service.”
“Today, we celebrate not just the longevity of a remarkable life, but the enduring legacy of an uncommon patriot,” the lawmaker stated.
He added, “Chief Salubi stands tall as an uncompromising Urhobo patriot, a steadfast community leader, and a consummate progressive politician whose convictions have never wavered in the face of challenge.”
Dafinone extolled Salubi’s decades-long role as a rallying voice for justice, equity and the advancement of the Urhobo people, noting that his principled engagement in public life has continued to inspire leaders across Delta State and beyond.
According to him, the 90-year-old elder statesman remains a moral compass in turbulent times, revered for his clarity of purpose and unwavering dedication to the collective good.
He noted that the celebrant is widely regarded as a living encyclopedia of Urhobo history, stressing that Salubi’s deep knowledge of the people’s ancestry, struggles and triumphs has enriched the cultural consciousness of the Urhobo nation.
“He embodies the wisdom, memory and heritage of our people. His understanding of where we are coming from has strengthened our resolve to pursue unity, development and self-determination,” the senator said.
