At his Abuja office, the lawmaker received a high-level delegation from the Livelihood Impact Fund (LIF), signaling a bold step toward deepening partnerships that deliver real impact. The delegation was led by LIF’s Executive Director, Abigail Steinberg, as part of ongoing efforts to build a more sustainable, inclusive, and people-focused health system for Delta Central and beyond.

The engagement marks a strategic alignment of vision and action. LIF’s mission of providing life-changing health resources — particularly through its transformative Eyeglasses Initiative — resonates strongly with Senator Dafinone’s development agenda, which prioritizes accessible, preventive, and community-driven healthcare solutions.

As a foundational partner in the Presidential Initiative on Eyeglasses (Jigi Bola 2.0), LIF played a critical role in the distribution of an impressive 1.3 million free reading glasses across 10 states, including Delta State, within the past year. The initiative has directly addressed preventable vision challenges that hinder productivity and quality of life for millions.

LIF has also supported the training of over 2,200 Primary Health Care workers nationwide, equipping them with the skills to conduct eye screenings and dispense reading glasses at the grassroots level. This strategic investment ensures sustainability — empowering communities with long-term solutions rather than short-term interventions.

The initiative is a vital component of the National Eye Health Strategic Development Plan (2024–2028), which seeks to fully integrate eye care into Nigeria’s Primary Healthcare system, making essential services more accessible to underserved populations.

In a further boost to the engagement, Senator Dafinone also hosted Dr. Oteri Okolo, National Coordinator of the National Eye Health Programme at the Federal Ministry of Health. Discussions centered on practical, results-oriented strategies to enhance healthcare delivery in Delta Central.

Speaking during the meeting, Senator Dafinone reaffirmed that progress for the Urhobo Nation and Delta Central remains a shared mission. He emphasized that his representation is anchored on purposeful partnerships that translate into measurable benefits for the people.
