The walk, which was aimed at promoting physical fitness, spiritual renewal, and social bonding, began at the Inter-Bau Roundabout and proceeded through the Anwai–Illah Road to the Office of the First Lady at the New Government House.

Clad in branded sportswear, participants marched in high spirits, engaging in aerobic sessions, singing praise songs, and stopping intermittently for prayer along the route. The initiative targeted 10,000 steps per participant, symbolising a collective journey towards healthier living.

Addressing the crowd at the end of the walk, Deaconess Oborevwori said the event was borne out of a deep desire to see Deltans—especially women—lead healthier and more purposeful lives.

“The goal of today’s walk is not just about reaching 10,000 steps. It’s about walking together in unity, with intention and faith.

“A healthy body gives us the strength, clarity, and confidence to pursue our goals and fulfil our divine purpose”, she said.

Drawing inspiration from 1 Timothy 4:8, she urged women to complement physical fitness with spiritual devotion, stressing the importance of holistic wellness — physical, emotional, and spiritual.

The First Lady described the maiden edition as a movement of purpose and impact, assuring participants that the initiative would be sustained and expanded in subsequent editions.

“We have prayed, stretched, danced, and shared in the spirit of fun and sisterhood,” she added. “My prayer is that everyone returns home healthier, stronger, and happier than they came.”

She also commended the Federal Road Safety Corps for ensuring the safety of participants, praised the fitness coaches for their coordination, and thanked the Government House Chaplain for his spiritual guidance.

In a short exhortation, Chaplain of the Government House Chapel, Venerable Charles Osemene, charged the women to embrace humility, unity, and service to God and humanity.

Speaking on behalf of the women, Mrs. Timiebi Guwor, wife of the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, thanked the Governor’s wife for her “inspiring leadership, motherly love, and unwavering commitment to the wellbeing of Delta women.”

She offered prayers for divine strength upon Deaconess Oborevwori, while pledging continued support for her charitable initiatives and for Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration.

The event ended with prayers for peace, progress, and prosperity in Delta State, as participants danced and cheered to mark the success of what many described as a timely and transformational initiative.
