Four males, two females killed

WARRI TODAY can authoritatively report that no fewer than six persons have been reportedly killed in renewed clash between political supporters in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.

It was gathered that the incident occurred late Sunday night and in the early hours of Monday.

Sources told our correspondent that crisis has escalated beyond clashes between supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the area into attempts to overthrow existing community executives in the different communities in Effurun.

Our sources added that some of the victims were either stabbed to death or shot in their homes between the hours of 12am to 5am on Monday.

It was learnt that one of the victims was simply identified as Onyema, a non indigene, but is involved in community issues in the area.

Some of our sources added that some of the victims were allegedly killed by security operatives drafted to the area to quell the renewed crisis.

The victims which include four males and two girls were said to have been separately killed at different flashpoints in Effurun and near Jakpa Junction.

Meanwhile, the Delta State Public Relations Officer, Andrew Aniamaka, who confirmed the incident claimed only five persons were killed in the melee.

Aniamaka, who spoke with WARRI TODAYTODAY, also debunked claims that security agents drafted to the area had hand in the killings.
