Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori and his predecessor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, have dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Also, the speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly and members elected on the platform of the PDP followed Governor Oborevwori to join APC.
The defection was announced after series of closed-door meetings between Governor Oborevwori, Okowa and political leaders of the PDP stock in the state on Wednesday in Asaba.
This is the first time PDP will be losing grip of Delta State to any opposition party since 1999 when Nigeria returned to Democratic rule.
