A major political shake-up on Tuesday rocked the Edo State Government with the resignation of top political officeholders in the state.
Among those who resigned is State Commissioner for Water Resources and Sanitation, Washington Osifo, who tendered his resignation letter in line with the directive of Governor Monday Okpebholo.
According to sources, Osifo, an ally of the Governor, is seeking to contest for the Uhunmwode/Orhionmwon federal constituency seat currently occupied by Hon Billy Osawaru.
Other political appointees who have resigned included Deputy Chief of Staff to Governor Okpebholo, Plus Alile.
A member of the board of the Edo State Oil and Gas Producing Areas Development Commission, Osaze Igbinovia and a member of the Edo State Audit Commission, Terry Igiebor, also tendered their resignation.
Governor Okpebholo had given political appointees and civil servants till March 1st to resign if they wanted to seek elective position.
