Urhobo Progress Union (UPU), the apex socio-cultural umbrella of Urhobo Nation, has described the passage of the former military governor of the Mid-Western State as a huge loss to Urhobo people worldwide and Nigeria where he served the country meritoriously.

UPU, in statement confirming the death of its former President-General, salute the first Nigerian indigenous Commandant of the Nigeria Defence Academy for his bravery and contributions to nation’s building.

In the statement signed by the President-General of the revered UPU, Olorogun Moses Taiga, said the former governor would be greatly missed.

The former military governor of Mid Western State and one time Chief of Army Staff passed on Sunday in Lagos State.

Olorogun Taiga in the copy of the statement made available to WARRI TODAY on Monday noted that Ejoor is an illustrious son who made Urhobo people proud.

The statement read, “The Urhobo Nation regrets to announce the transition of our most eminent and very erudite Olorogun and General, Olorogun (Major-General) David Akpode Ejoor, rtd. GCON, former President-General of UPU, former Governor of Midwest Region (now Edo and Delta States), and former Chief of Army Staff, Nigeria Army.

“This is a big loss. It is irreparable, and has indeed thrown the Urhobo Nation into deep mourning. His historic feats and contributions to Urhoboland, and Nigeria, are legendary.”

Taiga added that further details will be announced, after consultations with the immediate family and relevant authorities.
