As part of activities to strengthen the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State ahead of 2027 general elections, the party has inaugurated the Ughelli North Leadership Council with the founding leader of the party in the state, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, as its leader.
The inauguration ceremony, attended by leaders from the various ward excos and leaders, reaffirmed President Bola Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta as the sole candidates of the party for the 2027 general elections.
They particularly declared Governor Oborevwori as the sole leader of the party in the state and appealed to stakeholders to queue behind him, noting that they are pleased with his leadership style and development efforts in the state.
Stakeholders at the meeting also raised over N140m to fund party activities as well as mobilise support for the re-election of President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori in 2027.
The meeting held at the country-home of Olorogun Emerhor in Evwreni, Delta State, had in attendance all prominent leaders of the party in Ughelli North except the former Deputy President of the Senate and 2023 governorship candidate of the party, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege.

Hon. Festus Ovie Agas (secretary), Chief Raphael Emecho (assistant secretary), Hon. Similarly, Prof Samuel Ibodje was appointed to chair the elders committee, alongside two nominees each from the eleven wards, as well as all party elders aged 70 and above in Ughelli North.
Taking turns to speak at the inauguration, the leaders vowed to mobilise Deltans to overwhelmingly deliver President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori in the forthcoming elections in Ughelli North.
In a remark, the State chairman of APC, Elder Omeni Sobotie, who also hails from the council, emphasised the need for unity among all stakeholders and members of the APC in Ughelli North, stressing that the party would built on her success story over the years in the forthcoming elections.
Represented by the former Delta SSG, Rt. Hon. Festus Ovie Agas, Sobotie noted that Delta APC remains united under the leadership of Governor Oborevwori, and pledged to support all activities of the Ughelli North Leadership Council to win future elections.
The Delta APC chairman reaffirmed his support and participation in the meeting, stating clearly that every decision taken has his full backing.
In his welcoming speech, APC Delta founding leader and one time governorship candidate of the party, Olorogun Emerhor charged members to see the council as a rallying point for political mobilisation in the area.
Emerhor said, “I have not seen for a very long time in this dispensation, a gathering of this caliber of persons. I have been involved in political battles and elections since 1999, and looking around this place today, I know we are prepared and ready to go to battle. I don’t see any reason to be worried.
“We are ready and prepared physically. We are ready and prepared financially. We are also ready and prepared spiritually. I didn’t do anything extraordinary to stand up for the APC, it is neutral for a more progressive agenda. I think His Excellency the President and our governor (Oborevwori) can go and rest. There is no fear in Ughelli North. We are prepared and ready.”
“I am really happy that this meeting has gone successfully and the leadership council has been inaugurated. We needed to put this structure in place so that the party can begin to do its work. There are so many things to be done — we must prepare, we must work. I think their Excellencies, President Tinubu and our governor (Oborevwori) can go and rest with structures like this.
“Party meetings must now hold at the unit and ward levels. Local government party meetings must now hold. Now that we have a structure here, with chairmen, vice chairmen, and officers holding positions in both Constituency 1 and Constituency 2, we are ready to mobilise support for the re-elections of President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori.
“Before this meeting, I invited the party chairman, and we discussed. I was hopeful he would be here today, but somehow he is not. Those are some of the distractions we are talking about. But nobody is going to stop us. This train is already moving.
“When we were calling this meeting, we estimated that we were targeting about ₦100 million, but now I am sure we have raised over ₦140 million. That shows progress. We’re urging you to return to your wards and units, mobilise our brothers and sisters for the ongoing voters’ registration. Every vote will count in the next election.
“I am sure that when the government hears what we are doing here, they will know that Ughelli North is moving forward. Ughelli North is ready to deliver President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori. There’s no vacancy for their seats in 2027.”

In their goodwill messages, Surveyor Terry Noah and Rt. Festus Agas pledge their support and commitment to the growth of the party, while maintaining that the party will deliver Ughelli North for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the state governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori come 2027.
Also speaking, Ughelli North Local Government chairman, Hon. Jaro Egbo, cautioned against indiscipline in the party, noting that Governor Oborevwori remains the only leader of the party in the state.
He said, “If some people are here and think they are bigger than the party, let me be clear: the party is too big to wait for anybody. The chairman and vice chairman of Ethiope West were suspended and replaced immediately.
“Mr. President was very empathetic, he said, ‘Go and work with these people.’ We are ready to work together. We also have our founding leader here with us. We will give them one more opportunity to repent. If they don’t, the party will not wait for you, we will move forward.”
Also in their separate remarks, the chairman of the Elders Committee, Prof. Ibodje and Olorogun Morrison Olori charged the council not to shut their doors to welcome aggrieved members, noting that the party needs every stakeholder to win future elections.
The meeting was attended by the members representing Ughelli Constituency 1 & 2, Hon. Matthew Omonade and Hon. Spencer Ohwofa, Hon. Stella Okotete, Hon. Samuel Marierie, Hon. Abel Oshevire, Hon. Jaro Egbo, Pastor Ovie Kanaba and a host of other leaders who pledged their support to the Emerhor-led leadership council.
