A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the party’s first senatorial candidate for Delta South in the 2015 general elections, Prince Yemi Emiko, has congratulated the newly elected APC Chairman in Delta State, Chief Solomon Arenyeka, on his emergence.
Chief Arenyeka was elected at the party’s state congress held in Asaba on Tuesday.
Prince Emiko, who attended the congress as a special leader from one of the 270 wards in the state, described the chairman’s emergence as the product of a rigorous consensus-building process that spanned several days and culminated in a statewide affirmation by party delegates.
In a statement issued shortly after the congress, the Warri prince expressed delight that Arenyeka was overwhelmingly elected through unanimous voice affirmation by party faithful who thronged the venue to witness the exercise.
He noted that the new chairman brings a wealth of experience in both governance and party administration, having previously served as councillor, local government chairman, Chief of Staff to the Delta State Governor, and as the last state chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before his transition to the APC.
Emiko urged the newly inaugurated State Executive Committee to remain focused on strengthening unity within the party, stressing that cohesion would be critical to mobilising support and securing landslide victories in the 2027 general elections.
He called for massive grassroots mobilisation to ensure the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and all APC candidates in the state.
The APC stalwart also commended Governor Oborevwori for what he described as inclusive leadership and for refraining from interfering in the process that produced the new state executive.
According to him, the transparent and consensus-driven approach adopted in the election of the new officials reflects the maturity and internal democracy of the party in Delta State.
