Controversial social media influencer, Emmanuel Obruste, popularly known as GehGeh, has thrown his weight behind the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, and Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, as his preferred candidates for the 2027 general elections.
GehGeh made his position known on Friday while reacting to the endorsement of President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid by billionaire businessman Obi Cubana and celebrity socialite Pascal Okechukwu.
The self-acclaimed “Financial Expert” insisted that his choice was not influenced by party affiliation or celebrity opinion, but by what he described as credibility and visible performance, particularly in Delta State.
He lambasted Nigerian youths attacking Obi Cubana and Cubana Chief Priest over their political choices, describing as “fools” those who wait for social media influencers to decide who they should support.
According to him, young Nigerians must independently assess candidates and vote based on conviction rather than online influence.
On his presidential choice, GehGeh said: “Next year’s election, I already know who I will vote for — for president, I am voting Peter Obi. My only reason is that Atiku has ruled with Obasanjo as Vice President. We already know what he has to offer. He has nothing new to offer.
“President Tinubu is currently ruling, and we know the government. The only person we have not tested is Peter Obi. For me, let’s give him a try. Out of these three candidates, they may not be the best, but the most qualified in my own opinion is Peter Obi.”
For the Delta governorship, he declared support for Oborevwori, describing him as the best governor the state has produced since its creation.
“He is the best in the construction of roads, bridges, flyovers and hospitals,” GehGeh said, citing the ongoing ultramodern hospital project in Osubi, the new Warri City Stadium and the new campus of Southern Delta University in Orerokpe, among other road projects.
“I’m not voting based on political party. I’m not voting according to APC or PDP. I don’t belong to that category. It’s whom I feel is more qualified to rule the country or the state that I will cast my vote for,” he added.
He urged Nigerian youths to leverage the power of social media to access information and make informed decisions ahead of 2027, stressing that political awareness should not be outsourced to celebrities or influencers.
