Governor Okowa’s Father Dies At 88 In Asaba

Sir Arthur Okowa, the father of Delta State governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, is dead. 

It was gathered that he reportedly died at the Federal Medical Centre, Asaba, where he was receiving treatment.

NIGER DELTA TODAY (NDT) Online reports that the governor’s father died in the early hours of Thursday. 

Born in August 1932 in Owa Alero, Ika North East Local Government Area of the state, Arthur passed on at 88. 

Multiple sources confirmed the development to our correspondent, alleged that the octogenarian tested positive to the dreaded coronavirus and was receiving treatment at FMC where he died.

One of the governor’s brothers, Solomon, took to his Facebook page to lament the demise of patriarch of the Okowa household in Owa Kingdom, Ika North-East Local Government Area of the state.

Solomon wrote: “Daddy is gone to rest. Wonderful and strong daddy. A comforter, adviser, disciplinarian, God’s lover, peaceful and joyful loving father for all. May he rest in the hand of the Lord.”

A retired teacher, Pa. Okowa fondly called AOU, was the Okpara-Uku of Owa-Alero in Owa Kingdom.

His death came few hours after the Majority Leader of the state House of Assembly, Tim Owhefere also gave up the ghost after battling undisclosed ailment in the past few weeks.

Like Pa. Okowa, Owhefere also breathed his last at the FMC, Asaba.

Owhefere, a third term member of the House, represented Isoko North Constituency.
