The Board Chairman of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Olorogun John Nani, has felicitated with the Ovie of Idjerhe Kingdom, His Majesty, King Monday Obukohwo Whiskey, PhD, Udurhie 1, on his 60th birthday and 5th coronation anniversary.
Nani, who is an illustrious son and chief of Idjerhe Kingdom, described the royal father as a unifying figure and praised him for his excellent leadership since ascending the throne of his forebears.
The former Delta State House of Assembly member made the assertion in a statement on Sunday, noting that Udurhie 1 has brought unprecedented pride and global attention to the Idjerhe monarchy.
Nani stated that the twin celebrations represent sixty years of purposeful life and five years of steady, people-focused traditional leadership that has strengthened unity and peace across Idjerhe Kingdom.
He noted that since ascending the throne, Udurhie I has provided firm but compassionate leadership, anchored on wisdom, humility and deep respect for the customs and traditions of the people.
According to Nani, the reign of Udurhie I has been marked by stability, mutual respect and peaceful coexistence, attributes he said have enhanced harmony among communities and reinforced confidence in traditional authority.
He further commended the monarch for promoting dialogue, consensus-building and cooperation between traditional institutions and government authorities, stressing that such engagement has contributed to development and social cohesion within the kingdom.
Nani described the royal father as a unifying figure whose conduct on the throne has earned widespread admiration from his subjects and beyond Idjerhe Kingdom.
He prayed for God’s continued protection, sound health and long life for the monarch, wishing him many more years of impactful and peaceful reign on the throne of his forefathers.
